Owner – Adam Van Der Beek
In 2009 Adam left his “traditional” corporate job and was looking for a more fulfilling career path. While spending time in Amory Park with his dog Rowdy, it became clear what that path would be – a dog care service with a more complete and holistic approach to dog care than any other around. After many planning sessions at the dog park picnic table, Adam launched Beantown Bed & Biscuit at the end of 2009.
After three years, Adam and Rowdy made their dreams for Beantown Bed & Biscuit a reality when they opened their new home to all the friends they have made along the way, both canine and human. With the addition of a veterinary wellness clinic, a training program headed by Corinna Melanie, and an amazing 1,800 square foot playroom, they are set to ensure all their clients are, and always remain, happy, healthy, and spoiled!
In addition to his dog Rowdy, Adam also has a wife Alexis and a young son named Desmond.
Head Veterinarian – Dr. Amy Straut
Dr. Straut attended the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University where she was awarded her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. She has also received certification in canine rehabilitation therapy with The Canine Rehabilitation Institute via Colorado State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Straut is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Massachusetts Veterinary Medical Association, the International Veterinary Academy of Animal Pain Management, and is a proud member of the Delta Society & Pet-Partners.
Dr. Straut’s primary focus is whole-body wellness through general practice. Additional professional interests include pain management through the integration of conventional and alternative modalities. She thoroughly enjoys working with both patient and owner to find the best treatment protocol for each individual.
Andrea graduated from veterinary technician school in 2012 and joined the Bed & Biscuit family in 2013. While she has a passion for all animals, she especially loves Goldendoodles. She is the proud owner of a 3-year-old Mini-Goldendoodle named Chewy.
While away from the clinic, Andrea enjoys spending time outdoors hiking and exploring.
Kathleen is a certified veterinary technician with a passion for all animals. She joined the Bed & Biscuit family in 2016. Kathleen graduated with a BA from DePauw University, an MBA from Northwestern University, and graduated from Mount Ida’s veterinary technician program.
Kathleen has an 8 year old English Golden Retriever named Cyrus, an 18 month old tabby cat named Goose, and a 16 year old horse named Danny.
Beantown Grooming – Diandra
Diandra is a Massachusetts South Shore native and has 10 years of experience as a groomer. She graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management.
Starting at the age of 16, Diandra has groomed in Cape Cod, Central Massachusetts and Western Massachusetts, joining the Beantown Bed & Biscuit family in 2014. Click here to view our available grooming services.
